Rammed earth

Rammed earth

temp

Composition: Sand, Gravel and Cement

This ancient technique was used to create a compacted earth wall. This technique has been used around the world including sites such as the Great Wall of China, ancient tombs in Japan and for the pedestal in old temples like Ryoan-ji and Horyu-ji. Forms are used to compact the soil mixture, then they are removed and moved higher up the wall until it is completed.
